009 Re:Cyborg Preview

I have noticed that there is going to be a new movie out called 009 Re: Cyborg wich is ofcourse based on the original Cyborg 009 that was created by Shotaro Ishinomori. This new movie will be directed by Kenji Kamiyama who also directed “Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex”, the script is also made by Kenji.

When i was young Cyborg 009 went on as a kids show in sweden so i watched it a long time ago, then i rewatched it just a few years ago and the most perplexing thing for me is that the new movie is set in the present day wich the characters from the classic series now in full CG. For me this feels wierd just because i grew it to the original, just like transformer fans grew up to Generation 1 and cant stand the new movies coming out. Just like the original series there are the nine cyborgs that was created by Black Ghost to be used as eapons against humanity and again just like the original they turn against their makers with the help of Dr. Koizumi to protect the population.

I am not shure what to make of it at this point until i actully watch the movie wich i absolutly will do, one thing i can say is that it looks a bit more realistic now that it takes place during the present day and the characters have recived a new facelift, the designs are pretty cool. What i instantly noted that looked a bit off (for my taste) is Jet. His nose isn’t big like in the original series and, maybe, I wasn’t expecting to see him in a suit. Actually I didn’t recognize Jet at first sight.

the movie will be released the film in Japan on October 27. While we wait you can watch the trailer above and tell when what you expect, like or dislike so far.
