Level E

Do not be deterred by the overly sci-fi looking title, image or OP, Level E is first and foremost a unique comedy focusing on the crazy antics of a mischievous and brilliant alien prince and those unfortunate enough to be his targets. This series stands out from the crowd by having a truly unpredictable plot, You never know what will happen next, the series never ceases to amaze with crazy plot twists in every episode. The scrupulous delivery of comedy in this series will leave you laughing throughout each episode. Story aside, the hilarious humor is enough to keep you watching.

I would argue that Level i is just a big bag of trolling, why? The name of the main character is Prince Baka Ki El Dogra, and if you know your japanese, you know what i mean. The series is made into several story arcs wich in the ends connects the prince to have cause mayhem and around him and it relies mostly on the Prince acting like an ass while the rest of the characters try not to explode with frustration.

Prince Baka is very manipulative, Everywhere hes goes and everyone hes coming in contact with is either cause a great deal of pain and embarrassment because they are dumb enough to trust him. It is great that the characterization of baka plays so well with how the arc develope. Everyting is planned so well that Baka looks more real rather than developed for the sake of the plot.

The type of humor the show uses feels very different from other comedies of its era, since it is based on a manga from over a decade ago, when otaku jokes and clichés hadn’t crawled in all shows yet. This helps to get something uncommon from it that sets it apart from the numerous slapsticks and satires of today.

Studio Pierrot has given Level E a sober, clean appearance, it has a nice balance of colors and finds a decent balance in character design, The details are good and the animation is in general fluid. There are some CGI scenes that are distracting, but luckily these are relatively rare in the series.

I cannot say much about the sound as i did not notice it to much in the series, i do not know if it was lacking but as i said i almost never noticed it. The opening and ending is nothing i would put on my mp3 player, they where nothing speciall.

I would recommend that you watch Level E if you haevnt yet, it delivers a compelling story with a good dose of humor, and does so, refreshingly.
