OverDrive

I dont not like sports normaly, however Sports-anime i have tended to like, Major being my favorite by far. But here comes OverDrive and gave a “God, that was awful” after i was done with the last episode. The main point  that i want to complain about isn’t really that it’s bad, but the whole series is just incredibly boring. So boring that i nearly fell asleep after the first few minutes. They don’t really accomplish much at all from the beginning to end. They did have some good twists and also turn of events but at the end of the day they still didn’t seem much closer to the ultimate goal of reaching their goal. I also found that they had to use flashbacks and filler too much of the time.

However, there is a message in here that makes the Overdrives shortcomings forgivable. Mikoto wich is the lead character and his friends all shine with the possibilities for greatness, and will make us envision possibilities in our own lives, everyone can do something as long as they try.  But this is also a very common message therefore isn’t very useful. I wouldn’t be able to rewatch this because the content is too straightforward. You would NEVER find anything new or interesting in a second sitting.

As for the animation there were some characters that was sloppy drawn, but other then that it was really well done. The Background was really well done also. and really seems taken good care when drawing them. But of course, most of the animation was focused on the bicycles, the details of gears, pedals, and parts of the bicycles were really great but i would have rather had sloppy bicycles and more focus onthe characters and so on.

They had some very nice music to go alone with the series. The opening was catchy and upbeat so that was a bonus. The ending wasn’t as great in my opinion but still acceptable. During the action OverDrive’s soundtrack bursts with charged rock music to complement the racing and dialog. The voices were also decent but not amazing. They had suitable voices but at times I found the expression not enough to portray the emotions. This was more the case for minor characters. Therefore the sound was good enough.

I would recommend this to sport anime fans. In my humble opinion, it worth watching once. Its not a complicated anime so its a nice quick and mindless watch. If you decide to watch it have fun.
