I was so excited when i heard about the new Trigun movie, I think that I was probably most excited to see this movie than any other anime movie in recent years. The thought that I would get to see on of my favorite character back on the screen again kept me looking forward to this. after only 10 years of not hearing anything about it. The talks about the movie came from the studio head at Madhouse around 2005, it took a long time for us to get it but it was well wort it. I was really glad when i heard that the original seiyuu was in for this movie, otherwise i belive i would not have liked it as much as i did.
You could call this a filler movie, a really good filler as it’s played out somewhere midway of the original series but has nothing to do with it. The movie instead shows us the very unique approach to life that Vash has, we are shown the true ideals of Vash without even knowing it. The ideals that treating every human life as sacred which is a concept that they carried from the original series where Vash emphasizes the importance of second-chances. This is the very core of Trigun. This is one aspect where the movie totally delivered what was required of such a staple character. His ability to hide all seriousness with humor, and yet still showing heart whilst being incredibly intelligent and skillfull, is such a likeable quality when it’s displayed with the finesse it does in Trigun.
the movie focus was directed at Vash. I belive that Milly and Meryl and Wolfwood was nothing else then secondary characters here as they where in the background quite much with little to none contribution except near the end. They have no emotional range or impact to any of the other characters, and provide a sense of nostalgia more than anything else.
Madhouse did a really great job with this movie as the animation here is really impressive. The character design that is put together with the action that unfolds in the movies in in one word, cool. It is almost like how I remembered the original series.
As i mentioned earlier they used the original Seiyuu for this movies so the voice acting is great. The background music really sets the mood for all the action scenes, This brings about a whole different feel to each scene it is perfectly set for this movies as with the original.
As for conclusion is recommend this movie to any Trigun fan. I never thought i would enjoy it was much as i did because it was being a filler movie midway of the original. But this movie is more about the feel of the light-hearted moments that it can capture and replicate from the original material, and it does that well enough to give a taster of what the series is like, so go watch it.
